Movie lovers, have you checked out every theater on our list? We’re awarding four key Columbus movie theaters superlatives for what makes them stand apart. 🎬

Film buffs + special events

Gateway Film Center should be on every local’s radar for community events, special screenings, and guest speakers. Catch popular new releases plus movies you can’t see anywhere else, like international or classic films. On Tuesdays, movies are $5 and come with a free popcorn. Supporting this theater means supporting a local, independent, and non-profit org.

Beer + pizza

If movie-watching isn’t complete without great snacks + beer, Studio 35 Cinema & Drafthouse is your spot. The theater specializes in pizza, offering both Napolean-style and pan pizza with vegan and gluten-free options available. Top off your movie experience with one of 40 draft beer selections. Enjoy recently renovated theaters + seats.

More than just a movie

For an experience beyond just seeing a movie, a night at South Drive-In Theatre is the perfect date night or family activity. The theater is only open seasonally, so stay tuned on their Facebook page for screening dates + times. Bonus: There’s also a flea market on-site during the daytime.

Historic single-theater viewing

For some old timey vibes — with a recently renovated big screen auditorium — Grandview Theater and Drafthouse was first opened in 1926. The Grandview Heights movie hub features one theater that can seat up to 150, so there’s one movie playing at a time. Keep tabs on what’s showing on the website. The beer + pizza to order is another highlight.
