When the circus calls, you answer. That's why we had to jump on the opportunity to watch rehearsals of the Cirque du Soleil Corteo performers right here in CBUS.

The theatrical show features circus arts like horizontal bars, trampoline acts, juggling, and aerial performances. After a backstage tour and talking with the staff and stars, here's what we learned:

🤡 The show

The 100-minute show was created 18 years ago and follows a story imagined by a clown. The family-friendly performance is described as a "festive parade" in a carnival atmosphere. And, it's so watchable that it's been seen by 10 million people across the world.

🎪 The stage

There are no safety nets for the stunts, which adds a layer of thrill to the death-defying acts. Plus, the two-way stage at the Schott allows the show to be viewed from all angles.

Bonus: We were shown how the performers move underneath the stage on skateboard-like objects when they need to go from one end to the other during the show.

🤸 The performers

The show is comprised of 120 staff members across 27 different nationalities. There are 2,500 costume pieces, and the performers are responsible for doing their own makeup and quick changes. Talk about a busy night.
