When we heard COSI added "TUTANKHAMUN: His Tomb and Treasures," a new exhibition focused on King Tutankhamun, we knew we had to dig in for more. So, we trekked over to the local science museum and did just that — minus the pickaxes and shovels.

What we tried:

Not only did we tour the new King Tut exhibition, but explored the rest of COSI as well — we learned how molecules interact in the Ocean exhibit, discovered fossils in the Dinosaur exhibit, and even took a tour of the solar system with the Planetarium.

What not to miss:

"TUTANKHAMUN: His Tomb and Treasures" tells the story of how archaeologists discovered this historic tomb with an immersive, experiential approach. Think: Film and audio recordings guiding visitors through the exact experience of discovering the tomb.

While kids will eagerly check out the golden replica artifacts throughout the exhibit, parents and adults can discover the true history. From the careful labor that went into safely extracting King Tut from his tomb to life-sized recreations of the tomb, the exhibition is just as much entertaining as it is educational.

What we’re still talking about:

The level of detail that went into creating the exhibition was remarkable. There are multiple sarcophagi that are massive and covered in intricate engravings akin to the original coffins. Additionally, other artifacts, such as King Tut's headdress or an all-gold chariot, show how extravagant items were when designed for the king.

Some of our favorite items include the aforementioned chariot + replica shields, toy chests for kids, and chairs that look almost too expensive to even sit in.

How you can experience this:

By visiting COSI, located at 333 W. Broad St., or by visiting the local science museum's website. The exhibition will be on display through early September.
