Did you know the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) is based in Greensboro? The organization was founded in 1953, when seven members of the Southern Conference (SoCon) left to form their own conference in response to a partial ban on postseason play. Of the seven founding members, five remain in the Conference today — NC State, Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, and Clemson — along with 10 other member universities: UVA, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Miami, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Syracuse.

The men’s conference schedule begins Saturday, Dec. 12 and runs through Saturday, Mar. 6, 2021. Each team will play 20 total conference games — in addition to multiple non-conference games — including: four games (home and away) against the two primary rivals, eight games (home and away) against four repeating teams + eight single games (home and away) against individual remaining teams.

The women’s conference schedule begins Wednesday, Dec. 9 and runs through Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021. Each team will play 20 total conference games, in three regional divisions.

Here’s when you can catch the first ACC match-ups for each local team (times TBD) —

Will fans be allowed at games this winter? Duke announced on Wednesday that only players, essential personnel, and broadcast media will be able to attend games on campus. UNC + NC State have not yet made announcements, but have said they will adjust capacity requirements according to state and local government’s guidelines. All games can be streamed through the ACC Network. Check local listings for additional coverage.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schedules are subject to change. Any conference game that cannot be played will only be rescheduled if both teams’ existing schedules allow for it.
