Tomorrow, the city council will hear updated recommendations from the Planning Commission regarding a rezoning request for the intersection of Lead Mine + Philcrest roads, near Crabtree Valley Mall.

Nearby residents have expressed concern that plans for a five-acre, mixed-use, luxury senior-living development could have negative environmental effects + increase traffic congestion near the mall.

Since the initial filing of these concerns, the original project plan has been scaled back from 7 stories with 300 units to 4 stories with 250 units — with an added 50-ft setback from existing homes.

During tomorrow’s regular City Council meeting — which begins at 1 p.m. and can be watched via the City’s Youtube channel — the Planning Commission will present the most recent changes to developers’ initial rezoning proposal. While the public will not be invited to comment this issue this week, a public hearing will be held in May prior to a final vote (date to be determined). Tune in to watch live discussions here.

The Planning Commission has until April 22 to decide on final action + you can click here to find information about upcoming meeting dates and how to sign up to speak in favor or against the rezoning.
