Earlier this week, we asked for your stories from the 2006 Stanley Cup, and you delivered. Here are just a few reader memories from the '06 win. Want to share your own? Send us an email.

"My family went to most of the regular season games that year & watched EVERY PLAYOFF GAME. After the Canes clinched the cup, my parents found out a friend’s office would be “hosting” the cup for the day. My parents got to see the actual Stanley Cup and even have a picture with it. It still hangs on our fridge 20 years later as we watch our boys dominate once again." — Reader Kayla M.

"My son started playing hockey after the Canes won the Stanley Cup He was a big fan of Cam Ward so he became a goalie. He went on to play for the Junior Hurricanes, East Coast Eagles and UNC Chapel Hill club teams. We met all the 2006 players and Peter Laviolette at the Hurricanes 5K. They were so nice. Cam Ward called my son "little buddy." Such great memories and an important part of his life. He is almost 30 now and he is still cheering on the Canes." — Reader Lou Ann B.

"In 2006, I was a producer at WGHP in High Point, NC! I was in the newsroom prepping for the morning show, waiting for that final buzzer. The moment it sounded, the newsroom exploded! After about 60 seconds, it was time to get on air and make sure we had the first live shots from Raleigh. It was a fun night in the newsroom!" — Reader Dustin M.

"We wanted to make sure that the kids would look back on their first Stanley Cup Final, so we took our two-year-old and newborn born on 5/5/2006 and my mother-in-law" -- Reader Whitney S.

"In 2006, I was on a volunteer mission trip called Appalachian Service Project. We helped make houses in underprivileged areas warmer, safer, and drier. Our whole group of local Triangle teens and adults were beyond excited to see playoffs. Deep in the Appalachian mountains in Virginia, our cell service was spotty. No locals understood why we were desperate to find a free TV to tune in. We struggled to find a place to watch the game. Fortunately, we came upon a little pizza place with a small TV in the corner. We paid them to stay open late and turn the game on. Huddled around the screen, we all screamed, cried, celebrated the win together!" — Reader Emily H.

"We're transplants from San Jose, CA and moved here in 2004. Our very first date was a San Jose Sharks game, but we quickly became Caniacs in our newly adopted home town. Our girls were 3 and 5 then, and we raised them proper — watching the games on TV until their bedtime and going to the arena (for free!) to watch the away Stanley Cup Finals games on the Jumbotron while enjoying hotdogs and treats and screaming with delight. We told the girls at home that if the team had won, they would see something red on the stairs. The morning after the Stanley Cup win, my husband and I placed hoodies, T-shirts, towels, and paper, whatever red item we could find in the house and made a sea of red down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was a Stanley Cup we fashioned from tin foil wrapped around a cylindrical oats container, topped with various sized tin cans from which we removed wrappers, and finally topped it with a large Paul Revere Silver punch bowl. They loved it and it sat with pride on table at entry for a long time. We loved the celebration parade of all the players and their families in all red Chevy vehicles. They were so close and shook our hands as they drove by. This sort of small hometown fanfare would never happen in San Jose! Go Canes!" — Reader Michelle W.

"I’m a dental hygienist and hung the full page News & Observer picture of Rod Brind'Amour holding the cup over his head in my room over the sink. It hung there over a year until the edges started to curl." — Reader Susan B.
