Pet parents, this weekend is also for you. The day preceding Mother's Day is "National Dog Mom Day," celebrating the love that comes with being a canine caretaker. While we wouldn't expect your pup to bring you a gift, you can spend quality time together by pampering your pooch at a local pet shop.

Pro tip: If you're not a pet parent yet, there are Charlotte area shelters where you can adopt a new addition to your family.

Last Place On Earth
For the past 35 years, this family-owned shop has been helping pet owners spoil their puppies in the Hidden Valley area. Not only will you find treats and toys, but you can also come here for dog care essentials.

Pet Wants: The Urban Store
Feed your pup's appetite with all-natural, small-batch food made by this local brand found at the Optimist Hall Outpost, South End store, or on Saturdays at the Uptown Farmers Market. You can also follow Pet Wants' Instagram to see where it'll be selling treats around town.

Four Dogs Pet Supplies
Bring your dog to this NoDa shop to stock up on food, toys, leashes, and everything else you need for a day out. Its wide selection makes it a great spot to visit if you have a pup with special dietary needs.

Pet in the City
This small Sardis Woods shop is packed with pet basics. You can place an order, and just like that, it'll be delivered or ready for pick up. Plus, there are grooming options to get your dog clean and ready for cuddles.

Dog Supplies Warehouse, Huntersville
Your dog will love taking a car ride to this Huntersville store to browse its huge selection. Whether you're looking for toys for heavy chewers or specialized puppy birthday treats, this warehouse has almost anything your dog could need — and that includes grooming + nail-trimming services.
