The Queen City is full of creatives and the Charlotte Ballet is no exception. Eleven dancers will become choreographers in "Flip," the ballet's final program of the season.

The annual workshop dates back to 2019. It allows the dancers to take the lead, instruct their peers, and coordinate new performances not otherwise seen on stage.

"We work with choreographers a lot but to choreograph with someone you already know very well... it's exciting to get to know each other in that way," said Anna Mains, a dancer with Charlotte Ballet's first company.

"It's not something that we do often or nearly as often as our regular dancing aspect, but it's definitely a treat," added Rees Launer, a dancer with Charlotte Ballet's first company.

The intimate program allows for 11 different stories told through various styles of dance on stage. "You get 11 bite-sized glimpses into different people's life experiences," said Launer. Consider this your tasting menu.

Editor's note: "Flip" will take place at the Charlotte Ballet's black box theater (701 N. Tryon St.) and seats ~200 people.

The performance on Thursday, June 6 is sold out. Tickets are available for the workshops on Friday, June 7 + Saturday, June 8.
