A major phase in one of Charlotte's most significant housing development projects is now in the books. As planes from Charlotte Douglas International Airport took off nearby, Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles marked the official opening of the new West Boulevard Corridor.

"It's clear the West Boulevard expansion is more than a road. It's a symbol of what we can do if we're doing and creating thoughtful, walk-able, safe, accessible spaces for everyone," said Mayor Lyles.

The corridor is a four-lane expansion featuring pedestrian and bike lanes, serving as the gateway to The River District.
