Self-care isn’t a destination — but rather, a journey. Whether you’re looking for a fresh cut, facial, or just need to get your body moving, we’ve got you covered.

In honor of National Small Business Week, we’re spotlighting 10+ small businesses that have a focus on personal care and wellness.

Mind + body

Swannanoa's East Acupuncture Wellness Boutique can support you on your wellness journey with acupuncture catering to women's health, pain management, or cosmetic rejuvenation. The team also offers cupping and LED light therapy.

If you're busy as a bee, squeeze in a 15-minute massage or foot soak from Recline & Unwind Social Spa downtown. And be sure to wish the team a happy third anniversary this week.

Strengthen your mind and body connection with instructors at Alchemy Yoga and Reiki. The studio opened about a year ago on Hendersonville Road, offering heated + unheated classes — check out the new student offer. If you want to dip your toes in, the studio offers a pay-what-you-can community meditation session on Sundays.

To improve your posture, flexibility, and strength, Pilates can help. Asheville has plenty of studios, including Happy Body and Echelon Pilates with Erin Brown. If you want to get started with one-on-one guidance, Echelon is offering five 30-minute private lessons with Erin for $270.

If you're looking to find your flow or pump some iron, we have helpful guides for discovering even more of Asheville's yoga studios and local gyms.

Beauty + personal care

Some locals' favorite spots in town for a big chop are Willow's Dream downtown (be sure to shop around in the boutique too), Neon Moon Salon in West Asheville, and ananda hair studio in North Asheville.

Sacred Skin offers a variety of holistic treatments, from customized facials and dermaplaning to lash tints and brow lamination.

You can do a full face of makeup with Serentiy+Scott's vegan, clean beauty products — or you can have the experts do it for you when you book an appointment. Bonus: The Grove Arcade retailer is also the home of Punk and Dandy, a fragrance house offering a plethora of alluring scents. Bella Noir's sandalwood notes make it City Editor Grace's favorite.

For clean cuts and non-toxic color, Rustic Ritual Salon has your back. You can also achieve a glowy, natural flush with owner Caitlyn's buildable and balmy lip and cheek tint.

For creative claws, Lucky Dice Nail Studio is a go-to salon — a quick scroll through its Instagram will show you why. Just be sure to make an appointment first.
