Chiefs Kingdom, grab your red and gold gear — football season is back. Let’s break down everything to know before the Chiefs’ first home preseason game, which lands on Friday, August 22 at 7:20 PM CDT against the Chicago Bears at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The vibe at camp

Patrick Mahomes is dialed in (and promising at least another decade in red + gold), and 35-year-old Travis Kelce is out to make the most of what could be his last ride. Returning standouts like Isiah Pacheco and Chris Jones are being joined by hungry rookies:

Josh Simmons (OT)
Jalen Royals (WR)
Ashton Gillotte (DE)

Training camp is open to the public through Friday, Aug. 15 at Missouri Western State University — consider it your pre-preseason tailgate.

Tune in from home

Preseason games will air on KSHB 41, stream on NFL Network, NFL+, Chiefs.com, and the Chiefs mobile app, or tune in locally to 96.5 The Fan.

Regular season games will take a little more juggling. The first matchup against the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 14 streams free on YouTube, but after that, you’ll need a mix of Prime Video, local networks, and subscription services to catch all 17 games.

Local spots for watch parties

Watching from home is fine, but KC has plenty of places to soak up the electric game-day atmosphere:

KC Live! Block, Power & Light: The largest watch parties in the city, complete with giant outdoor screens, live DJs, and a sea of red. Pro tip: get there early — it fills up fast.
Streetcar Grille and Tavern, Downtown | When Power & Light is a little too crowded for comfort, this Main Street stop is the perfect place for a family brunch during a noon game.
iTap, Crossroads: BYO food, global beer list, and low-key game-day vibes.
The Peanut on Main, South Plaza | What better place to watch the game than KC’s oldest bar and grill? Take advantage of its happy hour and remember to order your wings extra crispy.
Make it personal: Organize a backyard tailgate with neighbors, a screen in the driveway, and a lineup of local beers (Boulevard, Torn Label, KC Bier Co). Bonus points for grilling burnt ends.

A quick Arrowhead survival guide

Make a list + check it twice before you head to the stadium. Here's what you'll need:

Ensure your mobile ticket is downloaded in the Chiefs mobile app.
Bring a clear bag or purse (per the NFL's clear bag policy).
Parking must be purchased in advance. Lots open 4.5 hours before kickoff — tailgate accordingly.
Expect to stand, cheer, and be loud — Arrowhead is still “the loudest stadium in the NFL,” and we’re defending that reputation.
