Calling all local sports buffs. Travel just ~20 miles south of Boston to cheer on Greater Boston's Major League Soccer team this season.

City Editor Sara here, and I recently attended a New England Revolution match at Gillette Stadium with 36,000+ fellow soccer fans. Here's what the experience was like and how you can Try This.

What we tried:

I spent a Saturday in Foxborough taking in the energy during the Revs (winning) match against Inter Miami.

Thanks to my parking pass — which Revolution season members get access to — getting into the East Lot was a breeze. Read: I had plenty of time before the match to tailgate with fellow Revs supporters.

Pro tip: For those without a car, you can easily get to Foxborough via the MBTA Commuter Rail.

What not to miss:

Another reason to arrive early? The pregame fan experiences. Think: Seeing the team warm up from the sidelines + local kids walking on the field hand-in-hand with their favorite players.

There are plenty of concessions available at the stadium concourse to give you the energy to chant "Re-vo-lu-tion" all match long. Try an Italian sausage or slice of classic stadium 'za.

What we’re still talking about:

My experience at the Optum Field Lounge was unmatched. Fans with OFL passes can hang out at the field-level terrace + private viewing area outdoors. Bonus: You'll get complimentary beer, wine, and food up until the 55th minute of the match.

I was also able to see some of the team's star players in action, including attacking midfielder Carles Gil (who was responsible for all three of the Rev's goals on June 10).

How you can experience this:

The season runs through mid-October, so there are tons of upcoming opportunities to root for the Revs.

You've got lots of options for tickets — from a Family Four Pack to a single game ticket with Optum Field Lounge + Putnam Club access.

Die-hard Revs supporters: Plan to take a seat in "The Fort" fan section. | Photo by BOStoday team
