Last week, the Boston Planning & Development Agency had a busy meeting approving lots of exciting new developments for the Hub. The biggest change coming soon is slated for South Boston along the 323-365 block of Dorchester Avenue.

235,426 sq ft
4 buildings
11-15 stories tall
1,600 new jobs

The new development is coming soon to an underutilized industrial area along Dot. Ave. is considered one of the largest in the last decade. The project was brought to the table by Newton-based company National Development.

The project, part of the larger South Boston Dorchester Avenue Planning Initiative, is committed to creating a new network of streets with wide open spaces, biking additions + pedestrian upgrades.

The City of Boston has dedicated 1.6 acres and $3 million in funding to be used towards updating and modernizing the Old Colony and Dot. Ave. intersection.

Two of the buildings have been designated for residential use, which will create 310 units for folks to call home — about 17% of those will be income-restricted.

The other two buildings will be designed for office space that could serve as a life science lab. There is also space reserved for approximately 50,000 sqft of retail and restaurant space.

Keep an eye out for more details on when construction will begin at the complex.
