In early September, Napa River Grill closed its doors after 24 years on the Louisville foodie scene, but the popular Westport Village dining space didn’t wither on the vine.

Jared Matthews, a bartender turned restaurateur, bought the place and turned it into Osteria Italian Seafood.

The new concept specializes in fresh seafood dishes with Italian influences. We’re talking seafood that’s 48 hours or less from water to plate.

To complement the menu, the revamped, blue-detailed dining room is filled with nautical nuances and a giant octopus painting. Pro tip: Napa loyalists can still find baked shrimp scampi and tomato bisque with puff pastry on the menu.

Here’s what we tried when we visited during opening week.

Arancini
Prince Edward mussels
Lobster bisque
Ricotta gnocchi alla bolognese
Porchetta

Osteria is open daily for lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on Sundays + offers happy hour deals Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.
