This Saturday, May 11 is Louisville Metro's next free recycling + large item disposal event. This month's Pop-Up Drop-Off will be at the UofL Shelby Campus, 440 N. Whittington Pkwy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Here's what you can offload:

Electronic items like cell phones and computers — no batteries or light bulbs, those go to the Haz Bin.
Furniture + appliances, except refrigerators or anything else containing Freon
Yard waste, subject to normal guidelines
Household recycling
Documents for shredding — stick to sensitive material, no need to shred junk mail, even if it would feel good.
Prescription medication
Gently used shoes for donation to WaterStep

In 2022, 46.8% of the material dropped off was diverted from the landfill, but that's only possible with your help. Separate your loads into the right categories, so the recyclables can actually be recycled.

Bonus: you can schedule large-item pickup anytime.
