On Tues., Feb. 8, Lexington Legends owner Andy Shea announced a partnership with Wild Health that will rename the former Whitaker Bank Ballpark as Wild Health Field + give the new Atlantic League team in Lexington its name — the Wild Health Genomes.

We’re bringing you the lineup of stadium upgrades + front office excitement as Lexington welcomes a new era in baseball.

The naming rights deal will bring a few new exciting upgrades that are expected to be completed in March.

Fun fact: The ballpark is also home to the Transylvania Pioneers baseball team.

The teams will now be playing on artificial turf which Chief Brand Officer Kara Sheperd said, “Will bring a lot of opportunity for more programming and events.” In fact, if the left-field wall is moved back 50 feet, the field can host football + soccer games.

They are also getting a huge new video board — creating a better experience for the fans + more opportunities for sponsors. Hello, movie nights at Wild Health Field.

There will be some new local food options through a partnership with Kentucky Proud, but no specific details have been released yet.

Being that both teams are owned by Stands LLC, the new positions that will be created will be predominantly for the facility. The newly created positions will be intern heavy, but each department will have a lead staff member.

The internships will be paid and cover everything from sponsorships, ticket sales, marketing, promotions + food and beverage. “This will be the best year for our interns to get some serious experience and real responsibility,” Kara said.

And in case you're wondering, we'll have 123 days of baseball games to enjoy this season from April to September. The 2022 schedule for both teams has officially been released + season tickets are on sale now.
