You already know this is Lexington Poetry Month, but have you noticed the open mics popping up like June flowers? To make the most of this magical month, here are five mics open to you:

Pro tip: These are regularly recurring open mics — bookmark this page for unique events and one-night-only happenings.

Poetry at the Table, Kenwick Table
Perhaps the brightest star in LEX's open mic sky, this monthly installation always attracts a crowd thanks to big-name headliners like George Ella Lyon. Pro tip: If you get stage fright, this is the perfect mic for spectating and maybe even getting an autograph. Meets the first Wednesday of the month, sign-ups start at 5:30 p.m.

Teen Howl Poetry Series, Third Street Stuff
This monthly meeting is a rare chance for teens and young adults to speak out while the rest of us listen up. Pro tip: The featured reader may be over 21, but no one else will be. Teen Howl is the first Thursday of the month, with sign-ups starting at 5:30 p.m.

Comedy Open Mic, Ethereal Public House
Every Thursday night at 8 p.m. you've got the chance to strut your stuff at this comedy classroom, or laugh along with local comics as they hone their craft. Pro tip: Leave the kids at home, with drink specials and loose lips, things could get wild.

Music Open Mic Night, Kenwick Table
Bring your (tuned) instrument to this musically inclined performance opportunity with an all ages audience. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. every Monday night, with sign-ups a half hour before.

Multifarious Open Mic, Blue Stallion Brewing Company
Starting Monday, June 16 at 6 p.m. this is the latest arrival to LEX's open mic scene. Become a part of something fresh by attending the first-ever performance of this brand new open mic mixing poetry and (some) music — planned to recur monthly.
