If you're like us and still thinking about Ilona Maher + the USA Rugby team, we'd like to introduce you to the Lexington Saints.

The youth organization gives athletes ages 5 to 18 the opportunity to learn + participate in the sport of rugby — the first of its kind here in the city.

"We have really good rugby here in Lexington, and none of the players are from Lexington or played in high school — until now," said Lexington Saints Head Coach Henry Johnson.

Despite the lack of sanctioned teams for the sport, he noted that the UK + UofL club teams, as well as the local men's club team, have all made it to their respective national championships.

Kids in grades 4-12 are invited to learn how to play flag rugby — no experience necessary — next Saturday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park. Follow the team's social media for more updates.
