Newsletters are our bread and butter, but did you know that LEXtoday has an Instagram presence, too?

As part of our mission to build stronger communities and encourage Lexingtonians to talk about the news together, we’re introducing something new: the City Collaborator Program. The idea is simple — use collaborative posts to share more local news and events than our small-but-mighty local editorial team would otherwise be able to.

How it works

If you have content you’d like shared with the LEXtoday audience, tag @TheLEXtoday as a collaborator on Instagram.
Your local newsletter editor, Gwenda, will moderate collaboration requests on a weekly basis and approve or deny any fitting requests within five business days. If you’re promoting an event or time-sensitive news, try to tag us early.
All tagged content will also be considered for editorial inclusion in our daily LEXtoday newsletter, even those denied for our Instagram feed; be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it.
If your collaborator request is approved, your post will be featured on our LEXtoday Instagram feed and may be re-shared to our stories or the 6AM City Instagram account.
As always, you’ll retain full ownership of your content and receive full credit for your work.

Why we think it’s cool

For new and upcoming accounts, this is an opportunity to put your brand content in front of a large and engaged local audience of 34,000+ people.
For established accounts and businesses, you may be able to increase your impressions or attract new followers — our audiences skew female, 30+, and they’re ready to invest in the local community.
For businesses, this is a great way to share timely and relevant news or events with our readers and followers, who are eager to support and grow our local economies.
Creators always retain full ownership of their content and receive full credit for their work — directly connecting our audience back to our collaborators’ pages and platforms. We will never monetize collaborators’ content (if you’re interested in optimized paid placements for your brand, please reach out to our sales team).

The “fine print”

By tagging LEXtoday on Instagram, you automatically grant us permission to share or publish the tagged content to any and all LEXtoday and 6AM City accounts and properties — including our social media feeds, websites, and newsletters. You may revoke this permission at any time by removing @LEXtoday as a collaborator and/or messaging us; similarly, we may choose to remove any content from our feed at any time and for any reason by removing @LEXtoday as a collaborator.
