If you missed the call to post + didn’t get your hands on some specialty tickets for the Keeneland Spring Meet, don’t worry, racing’s not the only event to enjoy at the historic racetrack and National Landmark.
From tailgating to shopping to delicious food experiences, we’re sharing how you can bet on a good time at the track, even if it’s not watching the ponies.

Pro tip: General Admission tickets are $7, must be purchased online, and there are some available for this Friday and Sunday.

Tailgates

Tailgating is a rite of passage when visiting Keeneland. Paved parking lot tailgating is available every race day on a first-come, first-served basis. On Fridays + Saturdays you can level up by taking your party to “The Hill.” Raise your hand if you remember when it was just grass and cars.
The Hill offers food trucks, Bluegrass music, a jumbo television screen for live racing + options to place bets. The track’s new experience is accessible at no charge through Gate 1 (Versailles Road + Man O’ War Blvd. intersection) or Gate 4 (on Van Meter Road).

Tours

Keeneland offers five tours throughout the year, giving guests a behind-the-scenes look at the world’s largest Thoroughbred auction company. Only available April + October is the Owner’s Experience Tour — taking you front-and-center to the Saddling Paddock and Winner’s Circle during the first race of the day.

History

More of a history buff? The Keeneland Library has ~30,000 books, ~1 million photographic negatives + thousands of newspaper and magazine articles all about the equine industry. It’s free and open to the public Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Dining

A true hidden gem, the Track Kitchen serves up home-style food bright and early for track staff + fans alike. We love the biscuits and gravy, eggs, and waffles.
