Totes just a suggestion to lighten up this intro.Dan Wu announced the creation of the Shared Travel Requires Engineering, Education & Enforcement of Traffic Safety Task Force (STREEET).

Tasked with preventing traffic accidents, pedestrian injury, and property damage, STREEET will focus primarily on short-term solutions, while supporting the Complete Streets policy.

The taskforce will be co-chaired by Councilmembers Liz Sheehan and Dave Sevigny + made up of community partners, LFUCG staff, and fellow council members. Local transportation advocate Alice Hilton will serve as a community representative, and said that people are eager to “create safer streets” that “support healthy, thriving communities.”

Vice Mayor Wu added that STREEET’s solutions for reducing traffic collisions + dangerous driving would come from three key areas:

Engineering
Education
Enforcement
