Prepare your shelves. Indianapolis Public Library’s all-ages Summer Reading Challenge returns Saturday, May 30 through Saturday, August 1.

Here’s the gist: Log the total time you spend reading, listening to audiobooks, reading aloud to someone, or having someone read to you. Each milestone, ranging from one hour to 20 hours, earns a gift customized to the reader's age group — from an IPL pint glass for adults to a snack, book, and coupon for preschoolers. Readers can also complete seven of 11 optional age-based "play" activities (i.e. donating a book, drawing a picture about a favorite story, or attending a library program) to win an extra prize.

Plus, if we reach 22 million minutes read as a community, all readers who logged reading time will be entered into a drawing for grand prizes. Every branch will have a winner chosen at random and contacted in August — grand prizes include Beats headphones, a Nintendo Switch, play kitchens, Amazon gift cards, and more.
