Now that's what we call going for gold. Since the US Olympic Swim Team Trials kicked off on Saturday, June 15, a few Indiana swimmers have qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Let's get to know these swimmers and what they bring to Team USA.

Please note: The official Team USA swim roster will be released on Sunday, June 23. Some of the below athletes have tentatively qualified.

Lilly King

With a spot secured on Team USA, the Paris Games will be King's third Olympic appearance. The former IU Bloomington swimmer has been the world record holder for the women's 100-meter breaststroke since 2017.

Aaron Shackell

This Carmel Swim Club athlete was the first American swimmer to qualify for Paris after winning the finals of the men's 400-meter freestyle earlier this week. The 19-year-old swimmer spent this past fall at the University of California before announcing his return to Carmel to train as an Olympic redshirt.

Drew Kibler

The Paris Games will be this Carmel swimmer's second Olympic appearance. Kibler is a six-time NCAA champion and is a world record holder in the short course 4×200-meter freestyle relay.

Chris Guiliano

This Notre Dame swimmer — originally from Pennsylvania — has qualified to swim a few events in the Paris games, including the 100-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and 4x100-meter relay.

Alex Shackell

Sister to Olympian Aaron Shackell, this 17-year-old Carmel High School student tentatively made Team USA earlier this week when she finished sixth in the 200-meter freestyle.

Blake Pieroni

No stranger to the Olympics, this three-time gold medalist is tentatively joining Team USA in Paris. Pieroni is a former IU Bloomington swimmer and five-time World Champion.

Luke Whitlock

The 18-year-old Noblesville resident became the youngest American man to make the Olympic swim team since Michael Phelps earned his spot in 2000.

Chris Plumb

The Head Coach of Carmel Swim Club has been with the program since 2003 after moving from Miami. He will join the Team USA coaching staff.

Chris Lindauer

Also named to the coaching staff was Chris Lindauer, who has served as the Peterson Family Head Swimming Coach at Notre Dame since 2022 after relocating from Louisville.

All together, the six swimmers who qualified this year set a record for the most Indiana-based swimmers to ever make the team. Cue the standing ovation.
