A home built just 60 years after Indiana became a state went on the market in Fountain Square, and Hoosiers — it’s a showstopper.

Here’s what you need to know about this 1870s home, along with two others in the area.

A brief background

Although the Italianate Victorian structure was originally built as a single-family home (constructed by a father for his daughter), it was transformed into a boarding house at some point in its long history, which housed up to eight families.

What’s included:

Five beds
Two full baths
Four-car garage capacity
3,292 sqft
Three parcels
An indoor stationary swim spa
A second, separate income duplex
A rooftop belvedere
Unfinished basement
Hot tub

The details

Aside from all the features listed above, this house has a spacious + peaceful backyard with a brick path leading to the garage, which has enough space to be used as a workspace for artists, mechanics, and a number of other hobbyists.

Plus, we bet you can’t guess how many windows it has. Are you ready? The number you’re looking for is 84, according to the current owner. And you know that belvedere we mentioned? If you look through a telescope, you can see Lady Victory. Yes, the Lady Victory at Monument Circle.

The last nugget we’ll share is that the current owner carefully hand painted starburst-like details around all the windows + doors of the house, which give it an added layer of uniqueness.

Pro tip: An open house is scheduled on Sun., May 22 from 1-3 p.m. for those interested in touring the home.
