National Public Lands Day, one of the nation’s largest single-day volunteer efforts to promote environmental stewardship, falls on this Saturday, Sept. 26. Spend the weekend beautifying Indiana's green and blue spaces at these events hosted by DNR:

Help clean up Summit Lake in New Castle, where the first 10 volunteers get a free kayak or canoe rental, or Patoka Lake near Hoosier National Forest, which includes a free lunch and goodie bags.
Take a hike through Fort Harrison State Park and create beautiful patterns through nature rubbings.
Learn about our aquatic habitats by participating in a stream survey with an aquatic biologist at Creekside Nature Park in Zionsville.
Support Prophetstown State Park by picking up trash with other volunteers.
Take a full moon hike at Mounds State Park.
Head north on Sunday, Sept. 27 to Tippecanoe River State Park to assist in habitat and trail cleanups.
