From hosting the NBA All-Star Game to the Pacers playing in round one of the Playoffs to Caitlin Clark being the Fever's No. 1 draft pick — there's a lot of basketball excitement in Indy this year.

Maybe all of this excitement has inspired you to step onto the court yourself. I know that's been the case for me, City Editor Nicole.

But if you've been trying to run some plays and practice your jump shot, it may be challenging to find somewhere to shoot some hoops. Lucky for you, I've put together a list of some courts to drop in and play.

Indoor courts

Garfield Park Burrello Family Center | 2345 Pagoda Dr. | This full court can be split into two with six hoops total. Open gym hours are currently: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (if no special programming). You can also check the schedule on the facility's Facebook page. Drop-in fee for adults (18+) is $3. 17 and under play for free.

Broad Ripple Park Family Center | 1426 Broad Ripple Ave. | There is one full court with six hoops here, but hours for open gym basketball vary by day. For non-members, adult open gym (18+) is $3 or you can do an adult open gym monthly membership for $15.

Indianapolis Healthplex | 3660 Guion Rd., Ste. 120 | This facility has everything you could ask for — including a full basketball court and even a cafe with a juice + smoothie bar. It offers open play but you must register for each open play session the day of, before noon. Members play for free and non-members pay a $10 fee. Looking to get some coaching? Healthplex offers private + semi-private lessons that focus on refining skills. Learn more.

Outdoor courts

We love practicing on an outdoor court because for one, it's free, and two, it's a great way to enjoy the weather — if the weather is nice. You have to be willing to share, too. Be aware of your surroundings and don't stay out after dusk.

Garfield Park | 2345 Pagoda Dr. | Outside of the Burrello Family Center, there's one outdoor full court (two hoops).

Fall Creek & 30th Park | 2900 Fall Creek Blvd. | This quaint park has two full courts (four hoops) that got a facelift in 2023 with fresh surfacing and new goals.

Ensign Graham Edward Martin Park | 801 W. 16th St. | There is one full court and one half court (three hoops) at this park located at Fall Creek Greenway.

Christina Oaks Park | 4205 W. Washington St. | This small park on the west side has one full court (two hoops) and a nearby playground for kids.

Bertha Ross Park | 700 Clifton St. | This park near 38th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street has a half and full basketball court. should we put how many hoops here, since we did for the others?

Got a go-to court that isn't on our list? Let us pick up what you're putting down. cute!
