Did you know it's been 102 years since Tampa Bay has taken a direct hit from a hurricane?

That being said, it's important to get your ducks in a row just in case — especially considering the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's prediction of 12-17 storms (including hurricanes and tropical storms) this season.

Here's how you can prep for the season:

Take advantage of Florida's Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday.
- What is it? This holiday exempts certain items such as flashlights, consumable household items, pet supplies batteries, generators, detectors, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectors from sales tax.
- The first holiday lasts till Friday, June 9 — with the second running from Saturday, August 26 to Friday September 8.
