If you're a music lover looking to add some vintage vinyl to your collection, TBAY is the place to be. Between the thriving music scene + plethora of record stores, you'll be sure to find the perfect disc to spin on your turntable. Here's a roundup of six record stores that'll scratch your musical itch, from underground gems to well-known institutions.

Bananas Records | 2887 22nd Ave N., St. Pete

This retailer claims to be one of the world's largest vinyl shops, with more than three million records in its warehouse. Bananas has been serving up a healthy dose of wax to music lovers for almost five decades. Pro tip: Find the Bananas booth at Localtopia on Sat., Feb. 18, at Williams Park.

Daddy Kool Records | The Factory St. Pete

Looking to get knee-deep in vinyl for hours? Daddy Kool is a treasure trove for true music aficionados. Their website is blog-style and is updated daily with new music drops. John Cena even follows the store on Twitter.

Microgroove | 4906 N. Florida Ave., Tampa

With a carefully curated collection of hard-to-find records, Microgroove is a cornucopia for vinyl collectors. You can find anything from obscure indie tunes to classic soul and funk at this genre-less record store. We consider this 625-sqft underground store a hidden gem worth seeking.

FYE | Tyrone Square Mall

This well-known chain store may not have the indie cred of some other spots on this list, but it makes up for it with its sheer size and variety. From classic rock to modern pop, FYE stocks it all with a nerdy, eclectic twist. This spot is excellent if you're starting out or are looking for a gift.

Mojo Books + Records | 2554 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa

This store combines the best of three different worlds under one roof: books, records, and coffee. Browse the shelves for hours on end with the help of knowledgeable staff.

The Sound Exchange | 14246 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa

This store has been a staple in the TBAY music scene for over 20 years. Whether you're a fan of classic rock, punk, or hip-hop, there's something for everyone in the bins of this classic record store. Looking for an optimal listening experience? The store put together a quick reference guide.

*It's worth noting that you can sell your records and related equipment at most of these spots.
