You might not want to ruminate on traffic, public transit (or lack thereof), and parking anymore than you already do, but we must because all of it massively influences our daily lives. What time we have to rise each day to trek to the office. The price of a beach day or catching a concert. How much time we have to spend with our families after work.

We're sharing the latest TBAY transit updates, so you'll know how future updates will impact your life:

Howard Frankland updates

Finally, both the pedestrian bridge and the new northbound express lane are open on the new Howard Frankland Bridge. The state reports the southbound lane should also debut this week. Best of all, both express lanes are free right now while the state works out the bridge's kinks.

The pedestrian bridge, named the HFB Trail, is open from sunrise to sunset. The nearly-seven mile path is separated from the cross bay traffic by barriers and is 12-feet wide, so there's plenty of room for both bikers and joggers. Pro tip: There's four sail-esque overlooks along the bridge so you can stop and take a breather.

St. Pete parking zones

Do you have spicy, or just good feedback, on the Burg's resident parking? St. Pete City Council is considering expanding its Neighborhood Resident Only Parking Areas. Where at? The proposal is geared to help fix parking issues in slices of St. Pete experiencing "spillover parking from nearby commercial corridors, entertainment districts and redevelopment," according to St. Pete Catalyst. Attend this week's council meeting for a first reading of the prospective ordinance, and share your feedback in public comment.

SunRunner

St. Pete leaders just approved new zoning rules that allow for denser development along the SunRunner's path — i.e. west of 19th Street, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Now, developers won't need to factor in build parking to projects within one-mile of a stop. Leaders say these smaller-scale projects are "how you're going to get some more affordable housing options along the corridor.”
