Did you know? About 1.71 billion people globally live with musculoskeletal conditions (think: pain in the muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and nerves).

From addressing hip and knee pain to tending to ACL tears or life-changing procedures to help you stroll and stride with ease, just about every body can benefit from orthopedic care.

Below, the experts at Lakeland Regional Health tell us more about three areas of orthopedic care.

For the avid walker

There are many benefits to regular walking and consistent exercise — but after a while, it can take a toll on the body.

“Whether you have a hip or knee replacement or some other surgery, the goal is to help ease your pain and help you regain the function that was lost because of damage from arthritis,” says Dr. Mario John.

For the weekend warrior or athlete

Your body is made to move, so you can enjoy all your favorite activities and exercises — but when sudden and painful injuries occur, it’s time to seek help from the experts.

"ACL tears can be a sudden and devastating injury for high-level athletes, weekend warriors, and physical laborers alike. I now can use the BEAR Implant on my patients to help their bodies heal their torn ACLs." says Dr. Wicks. | Photo provided by Lakeland Regional Hospital

And when it’s more than just a little wear-and-tear? “ACL tears can be a sudden and devastating injury for high-level athletes, weekend warriors, and physical laborers alike. I now can use the BEAR Implant on my patients to help their bodies heal their torn ACLs,” says Dr. Eric Wicks.

For trauma

When emergencies happen, there’s a team of specialists ready to help.
