A long time ago at a college not so far away, one of the world’s most famous architects designed a planetarium.

Miller Planetarium on Florida Southern College’s campus was part of Frank Lloyd Wright’s grand vision for the school in the 1950s, and brought decades of science to Lakeland. In 2004, the Planetarium closed and sat dormant for years — until now.

Following a recent restoration (that preserved all original design), the Planetarium is once again open to visitors of all ages.

Our team was among the lucky first visitors back. Here’s what we learned, and our top tips for your visit:

Programs are about 20-32 minutes, and the full experience is 60-90 minutes
Public shows are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays
Tickets are $20 per person, with deals for families + groups
Don’t worry about where you sit: every seat has a great view
While the planetarium looks exactly how Wright designed it, upgraded tech provides modern viewing
