LALtoday Reader Kellye – a new resident to the 863 – asked us where to find the best Mexican food in Lakeland. So, we turned the question over to you, our loyal readers, to help us spill the beans.

Here are the top places (in no particular order) that you wanted to taco ‘bout when we asked via email, Facebook, Twitter, and IG. ⬇️

📍 Tapatio’s Restaurante Mexicano, 6645 Florida Ave. S. + 734 E Memorial Blvd.

“Tapatios on South Florida Avenue is the best for the $$.” – Lourdes P.

📍 Dona Julia’s, 5375 Florida Ave. S.

“I have found Dona Julia's Mexican Restaurant in South Lakeland to be the best. The staff is gracious, the food is wonderful. This is where I go when I want authentic Mexican food.” – Bev F.

📍 Fuzzy's Taco Shop, 3950 Florida Ave. S.
“I'm sure I'm just repeating what everyone will say, but Tapatio's, Abuelo's, and Fuzzy's Tacos are great options. Fuzzy's has great drinks too.” – Gustavo C.

📍 Mega Mercado, 2009 George Jenkins Blvd.

“The best authentic Mexican restaurant in town is Mega Mercado, in my opinion! Go for the barbacoa or al pastor for your meat choices – they tend to be their most flavorful and juicy options. It’s a Mexican grocery as well, and they have tons of Aguas Frescas. They also make ice cream bars that remind me of the ones I used to get in El Paso. So yummy!” – Esmeralda G.

📍 La Michoacana, 1725 W. Memorial Blvd.
“La Michoacana is the best! Super authentic, and there's a small Mexican grocery store with Mexican sodas, cookies, candies, and all your everyday groceries!” – Isabella F.

📍 AZTECA D’ORO, 1235 N. Parkway Frontage Rd. E.

“Azteca has a very pretty interior.” – Whatever Tees

A few other local restaurants you shouted out: Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant (3700 Lakeside Village Blvd.), Tres Amigos Cantina (2025 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon), Taco San Marcos (4607 Florida Ave. S.) + Ximena’s Tacos (303 Main St., Auburndale).
