Grab a pitcher, friends. Dissent Craft Brewing, a taproom based in St. Pete, is opening a second location at 125 S. Kentucky Ave. (formerly housing La Carreta Mexican restaurant). If approved by the city, it will be the eighth alcohol-only establishment in downtown Lakeland.

The 2,000 sq. ft. nanobrewery, a brewery that produces no more than three barrels of beer in one batch (aka the smallest form of microbreweries), will depend on its St. Pete location for the bulk of its brews.

Its specialty is ‘Outspoken Ales’ + unconventional brews like Blueberry Marshmallow Berliner Weisse and Mexican Chocolate Cake Imperial Stout. The owners are also considering to offer guest taps from regional brewers.

The venue will be upscale, different from the St. Pete location’s spare look, and have a 95-person capacity. Tentative hours are scheduled for Tues.-Thurs., 3-9 p.m., Fri.-Sat., 12-10 p.m., and Sun., 12-6 p.m.

Once approved, the taproom is anticipated to be open between mid-November and early December.
