It’s Valentine’s Day, and while we’re sure most people celebrated with their sweethearts + friends this past weekend, what about showing a little love to the city we live in?

There’s lots of ways to show the great 408 love, so let’s get specific. Here are our recommendations for activities around San Jose based on your love language.

Don’t know your love language? Take this quiz to find out what you value in a relationship.

Quality Time

If you like to express affection through a display of your undivided attention, we recommend a picnic atop Sierra Vista Point, to take in great — and thanks to the rain — green views of the South Bay. Or, direct your attention to the screen, at West Wind Drive-In.

Words of Affirmation

If you are someone that loves verbal or written compliments expressing appreciation, stop by the Poetry Center for open mic nights + take notes, or, literally write a Love Letter 2 San Jose.

Physical Touch

If you like nothing more than a good hug from a loved one or cuddling on the couch, we suggest getting hands-on at crafty places like Ashy Aromas or 528 Entertainment. If food is a love language for you, try one of Eataly's cooking classes.

Receiving Gifts

If you think of gifts as symbolic of love and affection, you’re in luck. There’s no shortage when it comes to shopping in San Jose. Buy from local small businesses at SJ Made's MOMENT shops or visit one of SJ Makers' fairs or Pop-Up SJ's markets.

Acts of Service

If the way you express your love is by doing helpful things for others, we suggest a volunteering date to satisfy that giving heart. For some self-love, do your mind + body a service by getting your blood pumping.
