The San Diego Padres' roster is getting a shake up. Outfielders Juan Soto and Trent Grisham have been traded to the New York Yankees — the MLB's biggest offseason trade according to CBS Sports.

In return, the Padres will receive pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vásquez, plus catcher Kyle Higashioka, from the Yankees. This move fills two objectives for the Friars: adding to their starting rotation and making their roster more affordable.

Reportedly, Soto will earn a $33 million salary with the Yankees while Grisham will earn $5 million. Despite the Padres' underwhelming 2023 season, Soto is regarded as one of MLB's best pure hitters.

But don't worry, SD — the Padres still have lots of big names in their lineup including Manny Machado, Fernando Tatís Jr., Yu Darvish, Xander Bogaerts, Ha-Seong Kim, Jake Cronenworth, and Joe Musgrove.
