Howl’s that Halloween costume coming along, San Diego? 👻

Time is ticking to hatch your look and — since you love our city as much as we do — we thought we’d put together a little list of San Diego-inspired costume ideas. Muah-ha-ha-ha.

The Padres’ postseason good luck goose

Ever since a goose casually landed on the field at Game 2 of the NLDS — you know, right when the Padres took control of the series, eventually beating LA to advance to the NLCS — San Diego has had goose fever. Fans are sporting goose shirts + hats at games, while the Friars are keeping fake geese in their dugout. So, flock to the fervor with a goose hat — but jazz it up with Padres swag.

A Padres player

Probably the easiest costume to pull off right now — a Padres player — just rock your brown + gold gear and you’re on the team.

The San Diego Chicken (aka The Famous Chicken or KGB Chicken)

The iconic sports mascot from the 1970s originally (and famously) played by local sports buff Ted Giannoulas will always be the San Diego Chicken to us. There’s some effort required here, but we believe.

Spicoli

Hey bud, let’s party. Cameron Crowe went undercover at Clairemont High School to write his book, “Fast Times at Ridgemont High: A True Story.” This, of course, inspired the 1982 flick and gave us the ultimate SoCal surfer dude, Jeff Spicoli portrayed by Sean Penn. Grab this wig — shirt optional — and hit the party circuit.

Taco or California Burrito

Wrap yourself up in our city’s unofficial food.
🌟 Level it up: Add French fries, please.

Maverick

This year’s release of “Top Gun: Maverick” reminded us how much the original “Top Gun” means to San Diego. Be the Maverick to your best pal’s Goose.
🌟 Level it up: Ooh, maybe match the Padres goose?! We love a 2-for-1 deal.

Avocado

In SD, we always go for the extra guac. Represent.

Dr. Seuss favorites

Honor the legendary author who called La Jolla home by tipping your hat to his famously fun characters like Cat in The Hat — or make it a buddy costume as Thing 1 or Thing 2.

blink-182

The Poway-bred band is back together, they’re coming to San Diego next year, and everything is right with the world. Round up two friends, perfect the pop-punk look and enjoy all the small things.

The Whaley Family

You’re gonna need some 1850s garb + a group for this one. Transform into Thomas + Anna Whaley and their kids — the spirited, entrepreneurial family who’s all over Old Town San Diego and namesakes of the (haunted) Whaley House.

Ron Burgundy

Sure, “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” came out 18 years ago, but he’s still the city’s favorite newsman. You stay classy, San Diego.
🌟 Level it up: Bring a water-skiing stuffed squirrel as prop.

Craft beer

Tap into your Capital of Craft pride with this costume.
🌟 Level it up: Alter to include a super San Diego-themed craft beer.

Swinging Friar

Grab a brown robe, and be the ultimate Friar Faithful.

Surfer

If we live in flip-flops, rash guards + beach towels, is it even a costume?
🌟 Level it up: Bring your surfboard, dude.

What are you dressing up as this year? We're dying to know.
