The days are getting shorter, the nights colder, and the drinks warmer. We all know what this means — holiday season is here, so bring on the lights.

Here are some of our favorite winter wonderland spots in Sacramento:

The Fab 40s

If you missed the frighteningly good decorations for Halloween, you definitely don't want to miss this East Sacramento neighborhood's holiday light displays. Pro tip: Park nearby and walk through the neighborhood to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Old Sacramento Waterfront

View a 60-ft tree adorned with ornaments + lights and browse the 50+ locally owned shops at the landmark. This year's seasonal activities include Theatre of Lights, a 20-minute, live retelling of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" Thursday-Sunday at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Each performance features the lighting of the giant Christmas tree by St. Nick himself.

Winter Wonderland

On the weekends of Dec. 7-8 + Dec. 14-15 at Fairytale Town, kids can enjoy an encounter with Santa + the Grinch, faux snow, and festive decorations. Take pics in Santa's sleigh, make ornaments + enjoy the dazzling lights.

Illumination Festival

The lighting ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 7, 3-7 p.m., will cloak District56 in holiday cheer. There will be something for everyone — local vendors selling cute gifts, food vendors, carnival games, and a giant snow globe where you can take photos.

Imaginarium

With 5+ million lights spread out over 15 acres, Cal Expo's immersive light show takes the cake. Visitors can view a giant LED rose garden, storybook characters, mazes + more. This runs through Jan. 5, 2025 — get tickets.

Holiday in the Park

The 17-ft tree and surrounding lights will be shining all throughout December at Arden Park, so bring some hot cocoa and see the sights.
