City Editor Jordan here — I'll be honest, watching HBO's "The Last of Us" made me painfully aware of how unprepared I am for a zombie apocalypse (I know it was fungi in the show — but they were zombies for all intents and purposes, let's be real).

Here are some local ways you can join me in improving your zombie survival skills:

Archery is a great skill to have in an apocalyptic scenario so check out Wilderness Archery in Rocklin to get started with lessons.
For those up-close encounters, take boxing, Muay Thai, or jiu-jitsu classes at Urijah Faber's Ultimate Fitness.
I've never seen a zombie climb a tree. Tree Top Sac serves as a great model for what arboreal navigation could look like in the face of the undead.
Don't like the idea of being stuck in a tree? Hide in one of the city's 135 fallout shelters.
You'll inevitably get some boo-boos during the end of the world. Patch yourself up thanks to first aid lessons from the Red Cross.
Hungry? Local author Hank Shaw has written several books on foraging and cooking for food in the wilderness.
